The AMU Rosary Wall: A Lasting Testament of Faith and Community
On the outskirts of Ave Maria, a new landmark quietly bears witness to our campus’ enduring legacy of faith—the AMU Rosary Wall. Featuring a peaceful walking path, beautiful landscaping, and six screened-in gazebos for AMU students, this new addition was blessed during Annunciation Fest and now welcomes visitors to enjoy time for prayer and reflection.
Inspired by AMU’s chancellor and founder, Thomas S. Monaghan, and President Mark Middendorf, the Rosary Wall honors the tradition of AMU students praying the Rosary together while walking home from Mass—a practice that continues today as students gather for a nightly Rosary Walk around campus.
As President Mark Middendorf reflected, “The Rosary Wall stands as a living testament to the deep faith that has been the cornerstone of Ave Maria University since its founding. Inspired by the vision of Tom Monaghan, this wall honors not only the commitment of those who have supported us through estate gifts but also the enduring spirit of prayer that unites us as a campus community. Just as our students gather each night to walk in prayer, the Rosary Wall will forever symbolize our shared faith—connecting past, present, and future generations in a legacy of faith.”
You now have the opportunity to contribute to this campus landmark! The University is offering engraved pavers that will line the walkway alongside the wall, creating a path of prayer for all who pass by. By making a gift, you can inscribe your own memorial paver or honor someone special with a personal message. Additionally, both past and future bequest donors will have their names inscribed on a commemorative plaque on the wall.
